Shanbhag to lead Asia Pacific businesses

India is a very dynamic environment and is driving innovation in core telecom infrastructure such as 5G technology, said Vikram V. Shanbhag, Coriant’s newly appointed managing director for Asia Pacific South.

“For example, 5G represents an enormous leap forward in capacity and speed for its solid base of 300 million connected users that are currently driving data capacity requirements,” said Shanbhag who will lead Coriant’s initiatives in India and throughout the region.

This supports Illinois-based Coriant’s next-generation technologies, as well as its growing network of technology partners that enable the company to provide industry-leading, end-user services and applications including: 5G, IoT, Cloud and the Industrial Internet, he said.

Shanbhag’s appointment comes on the heels of Coriant’s agreement with Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited, India’s largest telecom provider, which enables the two entities to jointly fast track the development of 5G and IoT technology infrastructure for India’s growing base of connected citizens.

Shanbhag will oversee operations, business development, sales and channel strategy, and customer support operations in the region, including India, from Coriant’s Gurgaon offices.

With more than 27 years of experience in telecom and technology, Shanbhag brings a noteworthy track record in senior global leadership roles with demonstrated success in building and growing operations and business development throughout India, Europe, Africa, the Middle East and the Americas, said Coriant.
