Cabinet approves Phaphamau bridge
Three years for the project to be ready
The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs has approved construction of a 9.9 km long new 6-lane bridge across river Ganga. Costing Rs.1,948.25 crore, it will be on National Highway-96 at Phaphamau in Allahabad.
It will be built over three years by December 2021.
The bridge will resolve the traffic congestion on existing 2-lane Phaphamau bridge on NH-96.
It may be noted that there were only 13 bridges on river Ganges between Allahabad to Farakka before May’2014. After 2014, additional
Twenty new bridges are planned on Ganga river, which till May 2014 had only 13.
Eight of the bridges, which are planned for construction, work on Farakka, Sahebganj and Mokarnah is likely to start very soon. fii-news.com
