Badal expects US$10bn investment in food sector
Meet 800 companies at World Food India 2017

An estimated US$10 billion investment will be realised in the processing industry during World Food India 2017, said Minister of Food Processing Industries, Harsimrat Kaur Badal.
The event, to be held 3-5 November 2017 in New Delhi, will reinvigorate India’s position as a ‘Global Food Factory’ and a ‘Global Sourcing Hub’, she told a press conference on 16 October in New Delhi.
Outlining her vision for World Food India 2017, Badal said, “India is the second largest producer of food, leader in milk, fruits & vegetables, cereals and marine.”
It has a huge potential with 127 agro climatic zones and proximity to food importing nations, she said.
More than 800 global and domestic exhibitors will attend the event which will also have special sessions, conferences and networking opportunities for over 2,000 participants expected.
It will host over 200 companies from 30 countries, 18 ministerial and business delegations, nearly 50 global CEOs along with CEOs of all leading domestic food processing companies, and representatives of 28 States in India.
The event is supported by Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Ministry of Tourism, Ministry of Development of North East Region, Ministry of External Affairs and Ministry of Civil Aviation. fii-news.com
